There are many ways to get involved with Engineering Student Council, such as serving as an officer, volunteering at events, sponsoring activities, and more. Read on to learn what you can do to support and participate!
Join the Executive Committee
Every Spring Semester, ESC announces executive officer elections to students on the listserv for the College of Engineering.
President and Vice President Elections
To be eligible for election, you must respond to the initial call for applications by completing any required forms and submitting a copy of your personal resume. equires you to submit a form and a resume; factors that may affect your selection include attendance at prior ESC events, current standing in the College of Engineering, and enthusiasm!
If selected as a candidate, you may be asked to give a short speech (about 5 minutes) at the All Council general election meeting in April; if running contested, all candidates will be put to vote during that meeting.
All Other Officer Positions
After the President and VP for the coming year have been voted, they will work with the current presidency to begin a round of applications for students interested in applying to other positions announced for the next year. Applicants selected as candidates will be extended an offer to interview; interviews will be scheduled and privately disclosed.
All candidates voted or selected as officers for the coming year will attend a mandatory transition meeting at the end of Spring Semester. Duties for new officers will begin that fall.
Join the LIFE Committee
At the beginning of each Fall Semester, the LIFE Coordinators will announce open applications (via the Engineering Listserv) for students interested in participating in LIFE Committee. The LIFE Coordinators will review all applications submitted to them. Factors that may affect your application include prior institutional GPA.
Qualified applicants will be contacted within 3 days to inform them of their selection status. Applicants selected as candidates will be extended an offer to interview; interviews will be scheduled and privately disclosed.
Candidates selected as LIFE Committee officers for the current year will then be notified of the first meeting; this meeting is mandatory. Meetings will then continue every other week throughout the school year.
Represent a Student Organization
ESC hosts All Council meetings every other week during the Fall and Spring semesters.
If you are the president of a student organization in the College of Engineering, please ensure that you or another representative from your club attends these meetings regularly. If you are a member of an existing Engineering student organization, find out whether your club has a representative, and if not, volunteer!
