Academic Resources

Credit for prior learning

Your education starts long before you enroll at Kansas State University. At K-State, we value your prior learning — those lessons you learned through your job, service to your country, volunteer experiences and more. We're proud to offer our students numerous options to assess your prior learning experiences for academic credit. The credit for prior learning website will show you how your previous educational experience transfers to K-State.

K-State 8 course matrix

The K-State 8 general education program helps students widen their perspectives, explore relationships among subjects and build critical and analytical thinking skills. K-State 8 exposes students to a broad range of knowledge in different academic areas. The program shapes well-rounded thinkers and helps prepare students for careers, graduate school and other post-graduate experiences. See which categories are covered through coursework in each of our degree programs and what categories students get to choose an elective course from.
