Who should attend: Community officials (village/city managers, building/zoning/planning directors), realtors, financiers, and local economic development representatives (brownfield redevelopment authorities, downtown development authorities, chambers of commerce, etc.) from the Thumb counties (Bay, Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, Tuscola) and surrounding communities are invited to participate in this half day (8:30 am-12:30 pm) workshop.
Organizers will solicit information about specific “problem” properties from attendees, and will discuss strategies and incentives available to promote brownfield and other abandoned/underutilized property redevelopment.
This workshop features speakers from the Huron County Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, USDA Rural Development, the Technical Assistance to Brownfield Communities Program, and an area developer.
